Chan Kok Hong FRICS is conferred the Lifetime Achiever Award at the RICS Awards 2022 Southeast Asia in recognition of his longstanding dedication to the profession through his leadership and extensive contributions to RICS and the wider profession.
RICS Awards 2022 Southeast Asiashowcases the most inspirational initiatives and developments in land, real estate, construction and infrastructure. They recognise outstanding achievement, teamwork and companies. The Lifetime Achiever Award is the most prestigious award for built environment professionals. It serves to recognise the eminent commitment to RICS and the industry.
Mr. Chan has 52 years of experience in the built environment development industry and is the Managing Director of Savills Property Management overseeing a portfolio of over 48,000 units in about 160 projects/properties in Singapore. He started his career in real estate in 1970 and was a pioneer in the management of strata titled shopping centres under the Land Titles (Strata) Act, a new legislation that passed that same year. He left Jones Lang Wootton (now Jones Lang Lasalle) after 13 years as Executive Director to start his own consultancy which became the largest privately-owned strata management company in Singapore before merging with Savills in 2011 to become Savills Property Management Pte Ltd.
Achievements
Mr.Chan’s significant consultancy projects included the development of Duo and Marina One, Waterway Point, Paya Lebar Quarter. Besides the valuable contributions he made to the industry in his career, he also inspired and supported upcoming industry professionals through regular collaborations with local institutions and associations. Since 2005, Kok Hong has been a guest lecturer in BCA Academy and conducts lectures on Building Maintenance and Strata Management Act.
In 2005, he also became an advisor to the Real Estate Developers Association of Singapore (REDAS) on matters pertaining to the property and facilities management industry. Kok Hong also works closely with local educational institutions; he is a course advisory committee member in Singapore Polytechnic and is on the advisory board for Temasek Polytechnic to assist them in their relative course developments.
