Savills’ Energy & Sustainability Management (ESM) Team will be providing retrofitting management services to ensure the building meets the stringent requirements of the prestigious Green Mark Platinum Certification, whilst Savills’ Project Management team will coordinate with all stakeholders to manage this engagement.
As part of the retrofit arrangement, the ESM team has identified areas to focus efforts and capabilities to achieve a better energy efficiency for the building.
These include:
- Retrofitting of the Building Management System and Chillers
- Enhancement of the Air Handling Units
Savills’ ESM team was established at the beginning of this year to provide bespoke energy and sustainability-related solutions to building owners, occupiers, and real estate investors who are looking to reduce operational costs and carbon footprint on their existing assets.
Samuel Han, Associate Director of Energy & Sustainability Management, Savills Singapore: “We are absolutely delighted to lend our expertise in supporting Singapore Pools' sustainability aspirations. Our team takes immense pride in retrofitting their existing equipment with state-of-the-art high-performance chillers and EC fans into the AHU, alongside integrating cutting-edge BMS technology. We firmly believe that through these thoughtful enhancements and other sustainable initiatives within the Singapore Pools Building, they are poised to become a shining example and a true sustainability reference in Singapore. Collectively, we are fostering a brighter, greener future for the community.”
Vincent Lau, Senior Director of Project Management, Savills Singapore: “Savills offers advice on a growing range of environmental and sustainability matters to our clients where we innovate and propose measures to reduce the office’s carbon footprint and energy consumption. We are thrilled to actively contribute to the sustainability cause in our role as consultant project managers for the retrofit of Singapore Pools Building. Project Management is essential to the success of a project as we provide structure and control of the project environment. Through the dedicated efforts of our highly skilled Project Management team, we will deliver this important project in a safe, orderly, and timely manner.”
Aligned with the Singapore Green Plan 2030, which aims to foster sustainable development across the nation, Singapore has established a goal to have at least 80% of all buildings (based on Gross Floor Area) certified as green by BCA by 2030.
The financial services sector, along with the government, industrial, and retail sectors, has demonstrated remarkable dedication in embracing eco-friendly office spaces.
Singapore Pools is committed to integrating sustainability into its core practices and culture. Notable initiatives include the installation of solar panels on its rooftops, effectively harnessing sufficient power for the building’s lifts and common facilities in the office floors.
The organisation has also completed a full transition to energy-efficient LED lights and embraced rainwater harvesting for irrigation and car park washing. Embracing electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and digitalization of E-bet slips further demonstrate their dedication to eco-friendly solutions.
Additionally, they actively promote recycling by repurposing paper bet slips and actively monitor their energy consumption through the energy dashboard provided by SP Digital. These efforts collectively demonstrate Singapore Pools' proactive stance in fostering sustainable practices within its operations and beyond.
This retrofit arrangement is essential in helping Singapore Pools to achieve their energy efficiency goals.
Mohd Norhelmy Bin Ja’afar, Singapore Pools Deputy Director of Facility Management: “Our sustainability initiatives are part of the organization’s larger commitment towards caring for our community. We are delighted to partner with Savills and their ESM expert teams to accelerate our sustainability goals. Together, we have collaborated closely throughout the entire process, from planning and designing to project delivery.”
Marcus Loo, Chief Executive Director, Savills Singapore: “The resolve of organisations - public or private - to reduce carbon footprint has now become more important than ever. At Savills, we recognise the importance of responsible, sustainable real estate and our Energy & Sustainability Management team of Green Mark accredited professionals is ready to deliver high quality services for Singapore Pools.
